This wine comes from the little-known and little-exported Trás-os-Montes (“behind the mountains”) appellation of northeastern Portugal. Bastardo, also known as Trousseau, is an unusual find in this area. Its ravishing fruit character handles some stems and elevage in chestnut. Aromas of cherries and flowers, with elegant tannins and a long finish.
