Schiava is one of the more unique red varieties of the Italian Alps. Bright, juicy red fruit with hints of baking spice and barely perceptible tannins make for a great summertime red that can take a chill. It's also a wonderful red if you are serving delicate seafood. Elena Walch is one of the pioneers of quality wine in the Alto Adige, and her Schiava remains a classic example of the variety.
